Claudie was
born January 23, 1928 in Sulphur Springs Texas to Claud Alford
Alberts and Stella Mae King Alberts. Claudie had just celebrated
his 90th birthday with all of his family and friends. Surrounded
by family, Claudie Edward Alberts passed away at 2:45 PM
Thursday, February 1, 2018, in La Porte Texas, after recently
being diagnosed with cancer.
Military Graveside Service for Claudie Alberts, age 90, of La Port
Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at
North Hopkins Cemetery, Birthright, Texas with Rev. Bruce
Stinson officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky
Funeral Home.

George Samuel Crowell
1949-2018
George Samuel
Crowell, age 69, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by
his family at his home on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in Baytown,
Texas. He was the firstborn son of Buford Loyd Crowell and Anna
Mildred Williams Crowell. George served 3 years in the U.S. Army
with tours of duty in Korea and Panama. After military service,
he settled in the Houston area. He is the father of 3 children
by previous marriages, and 1 child with his wife, June Crowell.
He was very proud to have 9 grandchildren & 2
great-grandchildren.
George was a member of the Life Community Church in La Porte, TX.
He retired from Belcan as a Superintendent /Coordinator, and had
extensive work history with KBR, JV Piping and other companies
in the Houston area.
He had a fun, loving personality and never met a stranger. His
friendship blessed the lives of many
people, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, June Crowell, and his children, Daniel
Crowell, Christina Crowell Timm, Samantha Crowell Case, and
Brandon Crowell. He leaves behind his sisters & brothers --
Douglas Crowell, Loretta Quinn, Lloyd Crowell Jr., Clara
Crowell, Katherine Crowell, Gary Crowell, Susie Crowell, and
Carol Bragg, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended
family members.
Services for Mr. Crowell will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018,
at the Life Community Church (9529 West Fairmont Pky., La Porte,
TX). The family will begin receiving friends at 5:30 pm,
followed by a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. A time of fellowship
for family and friends will be held in the church banquet hall
following the memorial service. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the Crowell family encourages
donations to local charities or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research

Robert
Norris Foote
1932-2018
Robert (Bob) was
born in Jamestown, NY on June 25, 1932 to Ruth Marie Trusler and
Norris I. Foote. He left this earth on Sunday, December 30, 2018.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, and
went on to study at The University of Texas in Austin, and Trinity
University, where he received BS and MS degrees in Chemistry,
respectively. He completed his Master’s Thesis at Trinity in August
of 1959.
He married Lorraine Woodward Foote on June 5, 1954, and they began
their married life in the San Antonio area. Bob and Lorraine had 5
children together.
He served in the US Army, and spent some time stationed in Germany
during the Korean War. Shortly after graduation from Trinity, Bob
began his career as a chemist with GAF Corporation in Texas City,
TX. During the course of his 29-year career as an Analytical Chemist
with GAF, he oversaw the laboratory there. He and Lorraine and their
family lived in La Porte, TX, where Bob was active for several years
in The Boy Scouts of America, serving for a period as Scoutmaster.
He enjoyed singing, and a highlight of his involvement with the
Chamber Singers of the Bay Area was when the group got to perform in
Carnegie Hall in NYC.
In the 1970’s, Bob was asked to become a part-time adjunct
professor for the College of the Mainland in Texas City, teaching
mostly math and science courses. He retired from this position at
the end of 2010, after 40+ years of teaching.
Widowed in 2000, Bob then pursued a renewed interest in playing
duplicate bridge, and was active in this hobby until just days
before his death. He had accumulated over 300 Masters Points, of
which he was very proud.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his son David, and his wife
Lorraine. He is survived by his four children: Janet (Trig) Thorsrud,
Larry (Naomi) Foote, Sherry (Matt) Harrison, and Carl Foote;
grandchildren: Dana and David Thorsrud, Monica, Aaron and Elise
Foote, Jennifer and Nicole Harrison, and Jacob Foote; brother and
sister-in-law Donald and Phyllis Foote; sister-in-law Karen Pugh;
nieces and nephews Mike (Eva) Pugh, Carolyn (Gregg) LaMontagne,
Nancy Foote Troxel, Joanne (Ariston) Awitan, and his very close
friend Ann Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at 1
pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd Street, in La Porte Texas.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 at the funeral home.
Charitable contributions may be made to the La Porte Animal
Shelter, or the charity of one’s choice. |

Henry Ervin "Nick" Hooke
1940-2018
On April 19,2018, Henry Ervin
"Nick" Hooke (age 77) passed away peacefully while under Hospice
Care at his home in La Porte, Texas listening to Willie Nelson with
his devoted wife Jeanne and furry kids, Mandy and Rebel, at his side
after a lengthy battle with brain tumor complications. He was deeply
loved and supported by family and friends near and far during this
hard journey but is finally at peace from the demons who tortured
him both day and night.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents Earle and Mary Ella
Hooke, brother Ben Hooke and brother-in law Billy Price. He is
survived by his wife Jeanne, Mandy and Rebel (his furry kids), his
sister Betty Price, his aunt Lee Hooker, sister-in-law Joyce Hooke
Downey, brother-in-law Daniel D’Agostini, one niece (Kris Hartmann)
and four nephews (Will Price, Mac Hooke, Jeff Hooke and Quince
D’Agostini) their children and numerous cousins.
Captain Nick Hooke lived an incredible life filled with
accomplishments. He was born in Lexington, Mississippi April 21,
1940 but grew up in Utica, Mississippi where he was proud to be a
Utica Gold Waves and held the record for pole vaulting. He attended
Hinds Junior College on a football scholarship. He was a member of
the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity at Ole Miss and graduated from Ole Miss
in Oxford, Ms. in 1963.
As far back as the fourth grade, he wanted to be a pilot and
obtained his pilot's license in 1962. He was the Chief Pilot of the
Mississippi Forestry Commission. He later flew for the United States
Air Force and his performance earned him twelve Air Metals and the
Distinguished Flying Cross. Captain Nick Hooke flew Air Rescue
Helicopters during his tour in Viet Nam.
In November of 1969, he joined Continental Airlines flying both
domestic and overseas. At that time (year 2000), federal regulations
mandated pilots retire at the age of 60 so he flew his last trip to
Brussels, Belgium (Flight 60) accompanied by his family. He bid
down on the DC-10 as he wasn't ready to retire but then officially
retired in October of 2000 when Continental Airlines parked all the
DC-10 planes.
In his free time, Captain Nick Hooke enjoyed tinkering with ham
radios and computers, loved gadgets of all kinds, sailing,
backpacking and traveling with his wife and furry kids in their
motor home.
A Celebration of Life will be held in their home at 2415 Crescent
Drive in La Porte Texas 77571 on April 28th at 2 pm.
A Memorial Service will also be held in Utica, Mississippi at the
Utica Christian Church Fellowship Hall August 3rd at 2 pm to
coincide with the Utica High School Reunion.

Dorothy "Dottie" Marie Kaminski
Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Kaminski, 71, passed away Monday, October 1,
2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Josephine
Roye; step-father Chester Coburn; and her loving husband, Jimmie
Kaminski. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tommy Kaminski
and wife, Becky, Chad Kaminski; brothers, Eddie Roye and wife,
Brenda, Bobby Roye and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Savannah
Kaminski, Holland Kaminski, Kyle Kaminski and Gracie Kaminski; and a
host of other family and dear friends.
Dottie truly loved her community of La Porte and supported many
causes. She was an original founder of the La Porte Boys Baseball,
Oiler’s Little League Football and served for many years on the La
Porte High School Booster Club. As a current member of La Porte City
Council and a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission, she
continued to promote and encourage economic and business
development. Dottie loved the Lord and was a longtime member of
Bayshore Baptist Church. She had a successful Online Promotion
Business for many years. Dottie loved the outdoors and always looked
forward to spending time with her family camping, fishing, and
hunting. She cherished her family and loved every opportunity she
had to spend time with them. Dottie will be greatly missed by all
who knew and loved her.
Services for Dottie will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at
Bayshore Baptist Church, 11315 Spencer Highway, La Porte, Texas
77571. The visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 am with
the funeral service following at 11:00 am with Pastor Ben
Rosenberger officiating. Interment will follow at La Porte Cemetery
in La Porte, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that

Sue Cooke Loftin
Sue Cooke Loftin
of La Porte, Texas, passed away February 15, 2018. She was born in
Bethel, North Carolina to Aldie and Lillie Cooke. She was married to
Wayne Morrow Loftin for 62 years. Sue had a career in education and
later established Asbury Methodist Day School.
She is preceded in death by her father, Aldie Cooke; mother, Lillie
Cooke; husband, Wayne Loftin ; and sisters, Kathleen Ritzel and
Eyvonne Cooke.
She is survived by her children, Michael Loftin, Karen Loftin, and
Linda Pankonien; grandchildren, Jean Loftin, Clint Loftin, Tara
Bane, Lindsey Kendrick and Katie Narro; and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from
2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501
Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Funeral Services to follow

Frances Robles
Rodriquez, 86, of La Porte and formerly of El Campo passed away Aug.
13, 2018 in Houston. She was born March 9, 1932 in West Point to Joe
Julio and Clara Vargas Robles.
She is survived by daughters, Frances Belinda Galvan and Patricia
Ann Rodriquez-Wise of La Porte; sisters, Maria Elena Delgado of El
Campo, Angelina Gutierrez of La Porte and four grand-
children; GeriLyn, David, Christopher and Michael; four great
grandchildren, Noelle, Taren, Addison and Calliope all of La Porte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carmen Luna
Rodriquez; son, Carmen Rodriquez Jr. and brothers, Joe Robles Jr.
and Louis Robles.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at Wheeler Funeral Home
with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 18 at St. Robert’s Catholic Church with Father Philip
Brune officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Kathryn “Kay”
Thomas, 80, of La Porte, passed away February 25, 2018. She was born
in La Porte, Texas on November 2, 1937 to Billie and Amil Springborn.
She was married to Herman “Hank” Thomas for 40 years. Kay had a
career in Force Management for Southwestern Bell.
She was a Past Matron of La Porte Chapter 683, then again at
Archives 1095, and had a passion for sewing, crafting, and cooking.
She was preceded in death by husband Herman Thomas, sister Ann
Heidland, and brother Kenneth Simpson.
She is survived by her brother Charles Springborn; her son Mike
Jardina and his wife Cheryl Jardina; her son Tim Jardina and his
wife Kathy Jardina; her daughter Donna Jardina; the grandson she
raised, Brian Jardina and his wife Brittanya Jardina; her
grandchildren Sarah, Jo Rain, Timmy Eric, and Ryan; and 3
great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends Thursday, March 1 from 5:00-8:00pm
at Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway
Webster, Texas 77598. A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held
Friday, March 2 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral
Home. She will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery

John Lee Schneider
1960-2018
John Lee
Schneider, 58, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018
after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded
by his loving family as he went home to God. He is survived by his
loving wife of 25 years, Suzzanne Schneider; his four children:
Dominic Schneider, Marina Schneider, Sean Mahan, Laurin Tippit and
husband, Steven. John Lee was a loving grandfather to his two
grandchildren, Railynn and Calob Tippit. He is also survived by his
father, Richard Schneider; Aunt Doris Wood and husband, Jim; Uncle
Bob Schneider; Aunt Carol Beaman and husband, Buddy; Uncle John
Skinner and wife, Eliane; and his many cousins. John Lee was born
February 16, 1960 in Houston, Texas to Mary Jo and Richard
Schneider. Mother, Mary Jo, Grandmother, Ruby Bates, Aunt Marie
Schneider, Great Aunt La’Verne Zogg and cousin Ronnie Acker preceded
him in death. John Lee spent the last 30 years as a Longshoremen
with ILA 1351. He resided in La Porte, Texas since 1995.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at Forest
Park Lawndale
Funeral Home. The service will start at 11am with a reception to
follow. |

Lillie B. Warren
was born February 11, 1935 and passed away on April 19, 2018. Lillie
worked at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas for 26 years.
Lillie was loved by many and will be missed by her kids,
