Jesse T. Garcia, 70, from La
Porte, Texas died on February 18, 2017. He was born in Houston,
Texas on September 27, 1946 to Able D. Garcia and Mary Tomayo. Along
with his wife they were the owners of La Hadas Restaurants in La
Porte and Deer Park. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic, Knights
of Columbus, HLS&R, La Porte Optimists, Bayshore Chamber of Commerce
and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Baytown.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Garcia; mother Mary Garcia;
children Vanessa Lara and husband Eloy; Ernest “Bubba” Garcia; Jesse
Garcia and Filiz Aguilar; Sister Isabelle and husband Juan; Brother
Able; Brother Manuel and wife Doris; Sister Caroline and husband
David; Brother Martin and wife Rosa; Sister Alice and husband Meme;
Sister Anita; Sister Irene and husband David; Sister Mary Louise and
husband Ralph; Sister Yvonne; Sister Minnie; Grandchildren Joey Lara
and wife Taylor; Jacob Pena and wife Nichole; Joshua Lara and wife
Ashley; Jared Lara; Raigan Haas and husband Cody; Jordyn Garcia; and
Espen Garcia; Great grandchildren Jett Lara; Paeyton Lara and
Jeremiah Lara.
Visitation is Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5pm until Rosary
service at 7pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in La Porte. Funeral
mass to be Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10am at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in La Porte with interment immediately following at
Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas. |
Gilberto Guerra Diaz
1952-2017
Gilberto
Guerra Diaz, 65, passed from this life on February 6, 2017 in
Deer Park, TX. Mr. Diaz is preceded in death by his parents
Erasmo Diaz Sr. and Olga Diaz. Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife
of almost 40 years, Diana Diaz. His children, Zulika
Diaz-Frederickson and her husband, Deron; Gibby and Kara Diaz,
Dominique Diaz, Marcus Diaz and Andrew Diaz. He is also survived
by his siblings; Erasmo Diaz Jr., Minerva Vellajo, Hermelinda D.
Garcia, Juan Jesus Diaz, Irma Reyna, Patty Nacol and Melissa
Fernandez.
Some of the La Portians might remember some of the business ventures the
Diaz family owned and operated in La Porte. Gilberto Diaz owned
and operated the Fruit stand on Broadway in La Porte. Later he
and Diana owned and operated Speedy Taco on Main and 4th Street
in La Porte. Later he and Diana also had a night club at 146
feeder and Main. – Starship 2000.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10 from 6-8pm at Stepping Stone
Funeral Home in La Porte. The service will be at 2pm on February
11 at First Baptist Church in La Porte and burial will follow at
Grandview Cemetery in Deer Park. |

Donald R.V. Fields
1949-2017
Donald R.V.
Fields, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017. He
leaves this world to join the afterlife to be greeted by his Father,
Henry R.V. Fields, Mother, Della Faye Brinkley Fields, and his
youngest Daughter, Kimberlee Nicole Fields Stringer. Don was born on
September 17, 1949, in
Galveston, Texas at St. Mary’s Hospital. He and his family grew up
in Dickinson, Texas. Don graduated from Dickinson High School in
1968. In high school Don was very active in sports, which included
football, baseball, and running track. After high school, Don
proceeded to join the police academy and began his career in
Seabrook, Texas and then moved to La Porte, Texas.
Don served and protected his community bravely and proudly for 38
years. Don moved up in ranks and retired as a Sergeant in 2007, for
which he held this position for over 30 years. To his family and
many others, he was their hero. After his retirement, Don and his
wife, Carla, enjoyed traveling and
camping with their grandchildren in their motor home. Don had a very
big and giving heart and opened up his home and heart to many people
that were in need throughout the years.
Don is survived by a large family that includes the love of his
life, his wife of 42 years, Carla Dziubanek Fields; daughter, Eletha
Fields; son, Christopher Fields and his wife Stacey, his sister
Brenda Petru and her husband Larry. Don also leaves behind four
grandchildren, Shelbee and Sydnee Stringer, and Logan and Christyn
Fields. Don’s father and mother in-law: Richard and Alice Dziubanek;
sister-in-law, Sheree Kinghorn; brother and sister in-laws, Robert
and Deona Dziubanek and Russel and Gail Dziubanek. Nephews and Niece
include: Austin Kinghorn and his wife Désirée, Rusty Dziubanek,
Jennifer Dziubanek and husband Jeremy Scott, Greg Petru and his wife
Stephanie, Richard Petru and his wife Jenny, and Tim Petru and his
wife Miriam. Don also leaves many great nieces, nephews, cousins,
and close friends behind.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday March 17 at First
United Methodist Church, 9601 W. Fairmont Pkwy, La Porte, TX.
Interment will be in the La Porte Cemetery. Family will receive
friends
from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the Church. In Lieu of
flowers family is asking for donations to be made to the 100 Club of
Houston at
www.100club.org in memory of Donald R.V. Fields.

Jose Alberto Molina
Jose Alberto Molina, Sr., 63,
of La Porte, Texas, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017, surrounded
by loved ones.
Jose was born on May 3, 1953, in Laredo, Texas. He was raised in
Corpus Christi, Texas. On August 4, 1973, he married Rosa Hernandez.
They moved to La Porte, Texas in 1976. Jose was employed by the City
of La Porte for 22 years until he retired in 2002. In his younger
and healthier years, Jose was an avid boater, fisherman, bowler,
softball player, and umpire. He also enjoyed cooking, playing pool,
dominoes and card games. He loved to go “cruisin” with his
grandchildren around La Porte and taking them out for sno-cones and
Dairy Queen. He was a great man of faith and a long time member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served as a 4th Degree Knight in
the Knights of Columbus. Jose enjoyed spending time with family and
close friends and was a joy to all that encountered him.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Molina (Hernandez), his
children, grandchildren, and siblings. Children: Rebecca Zepeda and
her husband Carlos; Ernest Molina and his wife Konnie; Joey Molina
and his wife Geraldine. Grandchildren: Elyssa Molina, Natalie
Molina, Alexandros Molina, Saoirse Molina, Andrew Garcia, Samantha
Zepeda and Sara Zepeda. Siblings: Jesse Gonzalez, Jose Maria
“Blackie” Gonzalez, Isabel Ramirez, Ermelinda Hernandez, Victor
Gonzalez, Esperanza Perez, Diana Campa, David Campa, Julie Martinez,
Rosa Ramirez, Marivel Castro, and Generosa Alvarez. He is also
survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Jose is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and siblings;
Danny Campa, Fidel Gonzalez Jr., Robert Ramirez Jr., Antonio
Gonzalez Sr., and Maria Garza.
The Molina Family would like to thank all of their family and
friends who have helped guide and support them through this
difficult time.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, January 19, 2017 starting
at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel
of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy. Pasadena, TX 77505. A
mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, January 20, 2017,
11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 816 Park Dr. La Porte, TX
77571. The interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.

Imogene Sheilds Pennison
Imogene Shields Pennison, 76, of La Porte, TX passed with peace and grace on
September 18th, 2017. She departed this earth surrounded
by hymns at home as she was welcomed through heavens gates, her true
home.
Imogene was born in
Curtis, Mississippi on February 12th, 1941 to Winfred and
Anna Beatrice Shields. Becoming the wife of a music minister in 1963
kept her actively involved in the church throughout her life and
constantly surrounded by music. However, nothing brought Imogene
more joy than children; first her own, then her grandchildren, then
to any child before her.
Imogene is survived by
her husband of 54 years, Albert Pennison, Jr.; her daughter Karen
McWhorter of Texas; her three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Megan, and
Brittany McWhorter, all of Texas; her two brothers Harold Shields of
Texas and Howard Shields of Mississippi; and her two sisters Louise
Russell and Betty Perotta, both of Texas.
Imogene was preceded in
death by her parents Winfred and Beatrice Shields; her son Albert
‘Gene’ Pennison, III; and her sister Virginia Walton.
A memorial service to
celebrate Imogene’s life and legacy will be held from 5:00 pm
through 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 26th, at Paul U. Lee

Sheron Rohmfeld
Sheron Rohmfeld left this
earth on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The First Baptist Church, 310
S. Broadway Street, La Porte, Texas 77571, will hold the viewing on
Thursday October 26, 2017 from 5:30-6:30pm. Sheron’s service will
follow from 6:30-7:30pm.
Sheron’s will be laid to rest
at the La Porte Cemetery, Friday October 27, 2017 at 11 am.

James "Jimmy" Wheeler
James "Jimmy" Wheeler, 69, of
La Porte, Texas, passed away on June 5, 2017.
Jimmy was born September 1, 1947 in Boynton, Oklahoma to parents
Edward Huston Wheeler and wife Florine Epperson Wheeler. He
graduated from La Porte
High School, Class of 1966. He became certified as a welder at Lee
College in Baytown.
Jimmy served three years in the United States Army from 1966-1969.
He was stationed in Ethiopia, Africa for the Ethiopia United States
Mapping Mission,
Aviation section. During his tenure, he was awarded the National
Defense Service Medal, and was cited as a military Rifle Expert.
Upon his return he married Darla McKey Wheeler and spent many years
raising their family, living and working in the construction
industry in the La Porte area.
He was a Super-intendent at The City of Seabrook for the past 20
years.
Throughout his entire life he was known as a hard worker. He stayed
busy every day and enjoyed both his work and home life, whether it
was landscaping, gardening, working on cars or building his barbecue
pits. He always kept his bird hunting and fishing licenses up to
date, so any time his friends called, he was
ready to pack up and take a trip. Jimmy was always available to his
friends and neighbors at any time. During his life, he ran a
marathon, participated in many fun runs, went on walks around the
neighborhood often, and still lifted weights to stay in shape. He
always enjoyed laughing and having fun, and more importantly loving
life.
Jimmy is lovingly remembered by his wife Darla; their children, son
Kerry Wheeler and daughter Misty and her husband Charles Merdian;
His grandchildren Kaz and Jagger Wheeler and fiancée Claire Cegelski,
and Sophia, Emma, and James Merdian; his mother Florine Wheeler; his
sister Marie and husband Clyde Ellison; sister in law Barbara Angel,
niece Wendy and husband Shane Reilly, nephews Kaleb and Kory Quiner,
son Baylin and fiancée Layna Bishop, along with numerous treasured
family and friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father Edward
Huston Wheeler.
A visitation will be held Saturday June 10 from 9:30-11:00 am with
a Celebration of James' Life starting at 11 am at First Baptist
Church of La Porte, 310 S Broadway Street.
